Ötödik nap – 2013.06.24.

Üdvözlet Iowa-ból!

Úgy bizony, a kis szekerünk nagy sebességgel halad előre. Tegnap estére már elértük a középső államokbeli időzónát, ami azt jelenti, hogy Budapesthez képest már hét óra az időeltolódás. A mai nap kicsit nehézkesen indult, mindhármunk kikészült a vasárnapi több mint 600 mérföldes túrától, ezért kicsit lustálkodtunk, és csak nyolckor kerültünk ki az ágyból. A nehézkes kelést azonban annál gyorsabb készülődés követte, aminek köszönhetően már 10 órára Chicagoba értünk. Már az autópályáról kirajzolódtak a város körvonalai, ami egyedülálló látvány nyújtott. Első célpontként a United Centert céloztuk meg, ami a Chicago Bulls és a Chicago Blackhawks otthonául is szolgál. Jelenleg mindenki és minden Blackhawks mezbe van bújva, még a Michael Jordan szobor is a csarnokkal szemben. Mindez azért, mert a csapat bekerült az NHL döntőjébe, amit meg is nyert, az ötödik alkalommal. Miután kifotóztuk magunkat, és szert tettünk egy két szuvenírre, továbbálltunk az egykori Sears Toronyhoz, mai nevén Willis Torony, és megnéztük milyen is a kilátás az Egyesült Államok legmagasabb épületéből. A látási viszonyok kitűnőek voltak, és a nap is kisütött mire felértünk. A toronyban található egy Skydeck nevezetű üvegkalitka, amivel kisétálhattuk a semmibe, és lenézhettünk a közvetlenül alattunk elterülő városra. Az élmény igazán emlékezetes volt, tériszonyos embereknek viszont nem ajánlanám! A Willis Torony után jöhetett egy kis pihenés és vásárlás a közeli Walmartban. Itt beszereztük az ebédhez valót valamint a következő két napos túrára az ellátmányt, majd a Michigan tó mellett feltöltöttük magunkat. Mivel úgy terveztük, hogy 4 óra körül útnak szeretnénk indulni, ezért csak két gyors program fért bele a délutáni városnézésbe, a Soldiers Field amerikai futball stadion valamint a Buckingham szökőkút. Az utóbbi látványosság abból a szempontból is érdekes volt, mivel a Rém rendes család főcíme is e szökőkút képével indult több mint 200 epizódon keresztül. A két utolsó program befejeztével újra útnak indultunk Williamsburg, Iowa felé, ahol hétfő esti szállásunk található. Fontos, hogy jól kipihenjük magunkat, mert a következő két nap csak utazásból fog állni, hiszen a következő célpont már San Francisco!

Fifth day – 2013.06.24.

Welcome from Iowa!

Yeah, that's right, our little couch moves pretty fast. Last night we have reached the Central Daylight timezone, which means that now a 7 hours the timedifference between us and Budapest. Our day started a bit slow, because every one of us was tired after the 600 miles we travelled on Sunday. So because of that we were a little lazy, and got up only around 8 o’clock. After the slow start we got ready pretty fast and hit the road, and we reached Chicago by 10 o’clock. As we got closer to the city, the shapes of the buildings started to become more and more visible for us, which was truly an extraordinary view. Our first destination of the day was the United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Blackhawks. Currently everybody and everything are wearing Blackhawks jersey, even the statue of Michael Jordan in front of the stadium. All because of the NHL finals between the Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins, which was won by the Chicago team tonight, for the fifth time. After we took some pictures and bought some souvenirs, we moved forward to the former Sears Tower, now Willis Tower. We went up, and checked out the view from the highest building in America. The visibility was great, and the sun started to shine too as we reached the top. Up in the tower, there is a few glass cage, called as Skydeck. People can go out and look down and watch the city directly under them. It was really an unforgettable sight, but I do not recommend for people with a fear of height. After the Willis Tower, we went into the local Walmart to grab some food for our lunch - which we ate next to the Michigan lake - and to pack  something for the next two days. Our plan was to leave the city around four, so we only had time for two more site to watch: the Soldiers Field and the Buckhingam Fountain. The latter spectacle was interesting in a way that this was the fountain they showed in the late Fox sitcom Married with children. After we concluded the tour, we left the city to Williamburg, Iowa where we staying currently for the night. It is important for us to have a rest, because the next two days will only contain travelling, because our next destination now is San Francisco!

Harmadik és Negyedik nap – 2013.06.22-23.

Újra itt vagyunk, most már remélhetőleg gyakrabban tudunk jelentkezni. Most éppen Chicago előtt, East Hazel Crestben vagyunk, és igen hosszú utat tettünk meg, mire ide jutottunk. Szombaton elhagytuk első állomásunkat, New Yorkot. Első lépésként felvettük az előre lefoglalt járművünket az Alamo nevű autókölcsönzőnél, a Lexington avenue-n. Itt majdnem belevertük magunkat egy 180 dolláros kiadásba, amit végül szerencsésen megúsztunk. Történt ugyanis, hogy a GPS, amit magunkkal hoztunk nem működött, e nélkül pedig esélyünk se lett volna kikeveredni New York-ból.  A kölcsönzőnél azonban segítőkészek voltak, és elmondták, hogy valószínűleg a magas épületek miatt nem kap jelet a szerkezet, ezért adtak egy leiratot arról, hogy lehet eljutni a Lincoln alagútig. Szerencsére, mikor kijutottunk a felhőkarcolók rengetegéből egyből megjavult és az óta is hibátlanul működik. Ezután a kis pánikot követően már minden a terveknek megfelelően haladt. Estére elértük Farmingtont, ahol kipihentük magunkat, és újult erővel vetettük bele magunkat a mai napba. Délelőtt 10 órára elértük első New Yorkon kívüli célpontunkat, a Niagara vízesést, és még Kanadát is láttuk. Jelentem a hírek igazak, tényleg csodálatos látvány. Sajnos az időnkbe már nem fért bele, hogy jegyet váltsunk a Maid of the Mist-re, hogy megnézzük, milyen egy vízesés alulról. Fél egy környékén újra autóba szálltunk és haladunk Chicago felé, ami a holnapi nap látványossága lesz :)

Third and Fourth day

Hey there!

We are back again. Hopefully we can check in more recently now that we are on the road. We are currently before Chicago, at East Hazel Crest, after a really long day, that we spent with travelling. On Saturday we left our first station, New York. First we went to pick up our car that we reserved before the trip at Alamo. The rental company was on Lexington avenue. We almost lost 180 dollars there, but we fortunately avoided the disaster. It happened that our GPS that we brought, went wrong somehow, and without that we certanly don’t have a chance to get out of New York. We went back to the pick up point where everybody were very helpful, and told us that the error probably is not in the device, buti n the buildings, that blocks the signal. They gave us a paper, describing how to get to the Lincoln tunnel. Fortunately the GPS started to work instantly as we left the tunnel, and it works fine since then. After this little panic everything went as we planned. On Saturday night we reached Farmington, where we rested and gathered enough energy to continue our trip. By 10 o’clock AM on Sunday, we got to our next great destination, Niagara Falls and we even managed to see Canada. Well, I can report that the news are right, it is truly an amazing sight. Unfortunately, we didn’ have enough time to take a tour with the Maid of the Mist to check it out, how a waterfall looks from the bottom. Around half past twelve we get back into our car and continued our trip towards Chicago, what will be the sensation of tomorrow :)
