Megkésve bár, de álljon itt az utolsó napunk története.

Csütörtök reggel, július 11.-én fájó szívvel keltünk ki az ágyból, mert tudtuk, hogy este elhagyjuk Amerikát. Miután összecsomagoltunk, és betuszkoltunk minden ajándékot a bőröndökbe, elindultunk New Jersey felé, hogy még egy utolsót vásárolgassunk a Jersey Garden nevezetű outlet-ben és harapjunk valami finomat még egyszer. Mire mindezzel végeztünk már majdnem délután három volt, ezért sietve berakodtunk a kocsiba, és továbbálltunk az Alamo autókölcsönző Kennedy reptéri lerakatánál. Itt sajnos megváltunk bajtársunktól, a Vörös Királynőtől, aki kitartott mellettünk végig esőben, szélben, fent a hegyen és lent a völgyben, 47 fokban és tornádóveszélyben. A könnyes búcsú után kaptunk egy is kárpótlást, mivel az Alamo ingyenes buszjárata folyamatosan szállította az utasokat az Air Train-hez, ami a reptéri terminálokon megy körbe az utazókkal mindössze 5 dollár ellenében. Szerencsére nekünk még ezt se kellett kifizetnünk, így a lehető legköltségkímélőbb úton jutottunk el célunkhoz. Innentől pedig már gyerekjáték volt az út. A gépünk 20.00 körül elhagyta a kifutót, és meg sem állt Londonig. Habár itt akadt egy kis kavarodás, de semmi olyan ami megakadályozhatta volna, hogy Taki időben odaérjen a diplomaosztójára.

Ez lett volna hát a mi kis utunk krónikája. Köszönjük a figyelmet és a lelkes olvasást, és reméljük minél hamarabb eljön a folytatás! ;)

Twenty-second day – 2013.07.11.

A little bit late, but here is the story of our very last day.

On Thursday morning, July 11^th we got out of bed with a heavy heart, because we knew that tonight we leave America. After we packed up and shoved every gift to our suitcases, we went back to New Jersey to do one last shopping in the Jersey Garden Outlet and to eat something delicious again. By the time we have finished it was almost three in the afternoon, so we quickly loaded the car and moved to the Alamo drop off point at Kennedy Airport. Here, unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to our comrade, the Red Queen, who stuck by us through rain, wind, up the hill and down the valley, 47 degrees and tornado threat.  After a tearful farewell we were compensated by Alamo with a free shuttle bus ride that transfers passengers constantly to the Air Train, which goes around the airport terminals with the travelers for only a $ 5 fee. Fortunately we didn’t not have to pay for this either, so we got to the airport on the most cost-effective way possible. From here it was a breeze. Our plane left the runway around 20:00 PDT, and didn’t stop till London. We had a bit of a mix there, but there was nothing that could stop us to get to Taki's university graduation in time.

The end is nigh

Húsz-huszonegyedik nap – 2013.07.09-10.

Lassan elérkezünk utunk végéhez, és az utolsó postok egyikéhez. Tegnap elhagytuk Washington városát, és egy kis Baltimore-i kitérőt követően megérkeztünk Philadelphiába. Habár két óra alatt át lehet érni a fővárosból, nekünk sikerült négy óra alatt teljesíteni ezt a távot a hosszúra nyúlt stadion túrák miatt. A mai napot azonban már teljes egészében Philadelphiának szenteltük. A nehézkes kelést egy gyors reggeli követte, és már az autóban is voltunk, hogy megtekinthessük a nap első célpontját, a Independence Hall-t és a Liberty Bell nevezetű harangot. Mikor megérkeztünk éppen újonc rendőröket avattak fel, és hallhattunk pár lelkesítő beszédet addig, amíg körbefotóztuk a teret. Ezt követően továbbálltunk, hogy felfedezzük a történelmi belvárost, az Egyesült Államok első és második bankjával együtt. Az út során átsétáltunk a Rózsák kertjén valamint a Washington Parkon, ahol egy örökmécses emlékezi meg a névtelenül eltemetett katonákra, akik a függetlenségi háború idején vesztették életüket. A nap utolsó látványossága azonban a Philadelphia-i Művészeti Múzeum volt, ami sokaknak ismerős lehet a bejárat előtti lépcsősorról, ahol fel-alá futkározott Sylvester Stallone a Rocky című filmben. Miután felfedeztük a környező szobrokat, szomorúan vettük tudomásul, hogy nem maradt több programunk, így visszaindultunk a szállásunkra, hogy eltöltsük utolsó éjszakánkat az Egyesült Államokban, mielőtt újra repülőre szállnánk.

Twenty-twenty-first day - 2013.07.09-10.

Slowly we come to the end of our trip, and to one of the last posts. Yesterday we left the city of Washington, and after a little detour we did in Baltimore we have arrived to Philadelphia. Although the road is just two hours long from the capital by car, we have managed to make it in four hours, because of the some stadium seeing. However, this day was entirely devoted to Philadelphia. The difficult wake up was followed by a quick breakfast and we were in the car by ten, to check out the first destination of the day, the Independence Hall and a bell called Liberty Bell. When we arrived the police department just inaugurated some rookie police officers, and we heard a few rousing speech until we took some pictures in the park. After the park we moved to explore the historic city center, with the United States' first and second bank. Along the way, we walked through the Rose Garden as well as the Washington Park, where an eternal lamp commemorates the anonymously buried soldiers who lost their lives during the War of Independence. The last attraction of the day was the Philadelphia Museum of Arts, which may be familiar to many, because of the stairs in front of the entrance, where Sylvester Stallone runs up and down in the motion picture Rocky. After we explored the surrounding statues, we sadly acknowledged that there are no more programs left, so we headed back to our hotel to spend our the last night in the United States before our plane take off.

 Tizennyolc-tizenkilencedik nap – 2013.07.07-08.

Mivel a tegnapi napunk utazással és utazással telt, lényeges dolgok pedig egy 100 mérföldes dugón kívül nem történtek velünk, ezért inkább csak a mai városnézésről számolnék be. Ezt a napot reggeltől estig az Egyesült Államok fővárosában, Washingtonban tölthettük, annak is a szívében. Első napirendi pontunk a Fedex Field meglátogatása volt, ami az ország egyik legnagyobb amerikai futball stadionja és egyben a Washington Redskins csapatának az otthona. A kötelező fotók elkészülte után elindultunk a belvárosba, hogy megtekintsük az amerikai kormány és a törvényhozás munkaállomásait. A parkolónknak köszönhetően először a Kapitólium épületét csodálhattuk meg. Mondanom sem kell, elképesztő látvány volt, a magyar parlamenttel bőven egy súlycsoportban álló épület. Miután előröl- hátulról megörökítettük a törvényhozás székhelyét, tovább álltunk a Smithsonian Nemzeti Levegő és Űr múzeum nevezetű részlegébe, ahol három óráig járkáltunk fel-alá, és fotóztuk a különböző repülőgépeket, az első reneszánsz tervrajzoktól egészen a modern űrsilókig bezárólag. Itt persze kellően elfáradtunk, de nem sok pihenő fért bele a napunkba, ezért mentünk is tovább, hogy ha még felállványozva is, de megnézzük a Washington emlékművet, majd Washington első számú látványosságát, a Fehér Házat. Kívülről nem tűnik olyan hatalmas épületnek, mint a különböző minisztériumok vagy a Kapitólium, de, mint hétvégi nyaraló természetesen mindhármunk szívesen elfogadná. A nap két utolsó megtekintésre váró épülete, a Lincoln emlékmű, valamint a Martin Luther King Jr. Emlékpark volt. Mindkét helyszínt a grandiózusság, valamint a két férfitól származó idézetek tömkelege jellemzi. A nézelődés és a fotózkodást követően visszatértünk a szállásunkra, hogy kipihenhessük ezt a megerőltető napot, amit ebben a múzeumszerű városban töltöttünk. Sajnos elég kevés időnk maradt a városra, ami akárcsak New York, tele van látványosságokkal, amiket egy hét alatt se lennénk képesek feltérképezni, így holnap inkább továbbállunk Philadelphiába, utunk utolsó állomására mielőtt visszatérnénk az óhazába.

Eighteen-nineteenth day - 2013.07.07-08.

Because we have spent the whole yesterday with travelling, and nothing essential happened outside a 100-mile traffic jam, I can only report about today’s sightseeing. We had the chance to spend this day from dawn to dusk in the U.S. capital, Washington. The first point on our agenda was to visit Fedex Field, which is one of the largest football stadium in the U.S., and is also the home of the Washington Redskins team. After the completion of some photos we headed downtown to view the workstations of the U.S. government and the legislators. Thanks to the first parking lot we were able to occupy, the first building we could see was the Capitol. Needless to say, it was an amazing sight; obviously playing in the same league as the Hungarian Parliament. After we saw the building from front and rear, we moved to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum called, where we walked up and down for three hours, and photographed a variety of aircraft, from the first Renaissance drawings up to the modern space shuttles. Of course we get tired, but we didn’t have much time to rest, so we continued our journey to the Washington Monument which was currently under some recondition. Our next target was Washington's number one tourist attraction: The White House. From the outside it does not look like a huge building like the homes of different departments or the Capitol, but of course all three of us would accept a weekend house like this. The last two attractions of the day were the Lincoln Memorial and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park. Both sites key features are the grand design and the plenty of quotes of the two men. After looking around and taking some pictures we returned to our hotel to recuperate from this strenuous day that we spent in this museum like town. Unfortunately, we had very little time left to spent in this city, which is just like New York, full of attractions that you would not be able to crawl in a week, so instead tomorrow we're heading to Philadelphia, the last stop on our trip before returning to the motherland.
