Újra itt, akár a szélvész! "Sajnos" nem volt időnk megfelelően a bloggal foglalkozni az utóbbi két napban, ezért most pótoljuk gyorsan az elmaradt bejegyzéseket. A keddi napunkat többnyire utazással töltöttük, amit megszakítottunk két betervezett látványosságnál: a Hoover gátnál és a Grand Canyonnál. Már a Hoover gát is figyelemreméltó mérnöki csoda volt, de az igazi attrakciója a keddi napnak mégis csak a Grand Canyon volt, a maga egyedülálló vonásaival és lélegzetelállító nagyságával. Szerencsére pont a naplemente alatt érkeztünk meg, és még négy másik helyen is megálltunk, hogy dokumentáljuk ezt a természeti remekművet amennyire csak tudjuk. Addig fotóztuk a naplementét végül, hogy besötétedett, és mehettünk szállást keresni, ami olyannyira jól sikerült, hogy miközben ezeket a sorokat írom, addig a Colorado folyó szépen lassan csörgedezik mellettünk, odalent egy Grand Canyon nevezetű "gödörben".

Here again, as a whirlwind! "Unfortunately" we didn’t have time to work on the blog properly over the last two days, so we just quickly add the lost entries. We spent our Tuesday mostly with traveling, which we disrupted with two planned spectacle: the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. Though the Hoover Dam is a remarkable engineering milestone, the real attraction of the day was the Grand Canyon, with its own unique features and breathtaking sizes. Fortunately, we arrived at sunset, and even stopped at four other locations to document this natural masterpiece as good as possible. We photographed the sunset so long till it was dark and we had to go look for an accommodation. We managed to find one, which is so good, that as I am writing these lines, the Colorado River slowly flows next to us in a “pit” called Grand Canyon.

Elindultunk visszafelé! Elértük az Egyesült Államok nyugati felét, majd háromnapi pihenést követően újból útnak indultunk. A következő állomás pedig nem más, mint Las Vegas volt. Los Angelest elhagyva, viszonylag gyorsan, kb 4 és fél - 5 óra alatt megjártuk az utat. Mivel eddig szerencsénk volt a szállásokkal, ezért úgy döntöttünk, hogy Vegasban egy kaszinó vendégei leszünk az éjszakára. A választásunk a Stratosphere hotelre esett, mivel az ajánlatuk is kedvező volt, és innen nyílik a legjobb kilátás a Bűn városára. Habár már délután három órakor megérkeztünk, nagyon sokat nem tudtunk csinálni, mert őrjítő hőség, 47 Celsius fok uralkodott, ami még este is csak 38-40 fokra csökkent le. Este azonban elhatároztuk magunkat, hogy végig megyünk a Las Vegas strip-en, legyen akármilyen meleg is. A séta alatt megtekintettük a híresebb kaszinókat, mint pl.: Circus Circus, Mirage, Bellagio és Cézár palotáját is megnéztük kívülről. Majdnem éjfél volt, mire sikerült visszaérnünk a szobánkba, ahol már elviselhető volt a nagy meleg, köszönhetően a légkondinak. Másnap reggel tovább is álltunk, nem maradtunk kaszinózni egy kicsit, mert még hosszú út áll előttünk, és szükségünk lesz egy kis pénzre.

Twelfth day – 2013.07.01

We are coming back now! We reached the western part of the United States and after three days of resting we are on the road again. Our next destination was Las Vegas. After we left Los Angeles, we got to Vegas relatively quick, it took only 4 and a half – 5 hours of driving. We were lucky with the accommodations so far, so we decided that we are going to be the guests of a casino for one night. We picked the Stratosphere Hotel, because of their prices and the fact, that we can see the whole Sin city from their tower. Although we arrived around 3 o’clock in the afternoon, we couldn’t do anything, because of the crazy hot weather, the 47 Celsius, which still was 38-40 after dusk. In the evening, we decided to go along on the Las Vegas Strip, no matter how warm the weather is. During the tour we visited the famous casinos such as: Circus Circus, The Mirage, Bellagio and Caesar’s Palace. It was almost midnight, when we got back to our room, which was tolerable in the hot weather, due to its air condition. The next morning we left Las Vegas, without any gambling, because we still have a long road ahead of us, and we need every dime of it.
