Empire State of Amigos

Sajnos az utóbbi két nap elég sűrűre sikeredett, ezért nem volt sok időnk a bloggal foglalkozni, de mindeközben lelkesen kattogott a fényképező mialatt róttuk a mérföldeket. Ennek eredménye az lett, hogy a két nap alatt majdnem 800 képet plusz egy pár videót sikerült összehozni, ezért az alábbi képi összefoglaló csupán egy kis ízelítő utazásaink első állomásáról.

Első nap – 2013.06.20

Csütörtök volt az első teljes napunk, amit New Yorkban töltöttünk. Szerencsére könnyen ment az akklimatizálódás, ezért már korán reggel elindultunk első állomásunkhoz, egy Grand Central melletti étteremhez, ahol elköltöttünk egy kiváló reggelit. Miután megtöltöttük magunkat minden jóval, körbejártuk a Grand Central állomást és megnéztük honnan is indulnak a sínek, amelyek behálózzák Amerikát. Ezen kis kitérőt követően elindultunk, hogy bejárjuk New York első számú turistagyűjtőjét: a Time Square-t. Az élmény leírhatatlan volt, ezért a majd a képek beszélnek helyettem ;)

Miután kifotóztuk magunkat a Time Squaren, továbbálltunk a Broadway-en keresztül egészen az 50. utcáig, mígnem eljutottunk a Rockefeller Centerig, amely nem mellékesen az NBC amerikai tévétársaság főhadiszállása. Sajnos a stúdiótúráról lemaradtunk, de maga az épület és az előtte elterülő park valamelyest kárpótolt minket. Zsolti úgy döntött, hogy felmegy az épület tetején lévő kilátóba is, így míg ő túrzott, Én és Taki megvártuk a Rockefeller Center előtt elterülő parknál ahol megkerestük, hogy hol találta meg Kevin Mcellistert az anyukája, majd újraéltük gyerekkorunkat a közeli lego áruházban, lásd a mellékelt képek...

Az erőltetett menet után jöhetett egy kis pihenő a Central Parkban, valamint ebéd egy tradicionális New York-i utcai hot dog árusnál. Miután mindannyiunk lábába visszatért az erő, elindultunk a nap utolsó látnivalójához, a Madison Square Gardenhez. Látvány kicsit csalódást okozott, mivel éppen felújítás alatt áll a csarnok, és így csak kívülről szemlélhettük meg. Ezután még gyorsan bekukkantottuk a közeli Macy’s-be, de a tömeg és légkondi gyorsan kikergetett minket, ezért közös megegyezéssel lezártuk a napot, és visszatértünk a szállásra, hogy kipihenjük a nap fáradalmait és aludjunk egy nagyot.

Unfortunately, the last two days was a little busy, so we didn’t have much time to deal with our blog, but during this time we did a whole lot of pictures. The result was that during these two days we made  almost 800 pics plus a few video, so this summary is only a little piece of our pictures.

First day - 06/20/2013

Thursday was the first full day that we spent in New York. Fortunately, the acclimatization was easy, so we got up early in the morning and went to our first target that day, a restaurant next to Grand Central, where we had a great breakfast. After filling ourselves with delicous bacon and eggs, we walked around and the Grand Central station and watched the tracks that leave  that goes through America. After this detour we set out to tour New York's greatest visitor center, the Time Square. The experience was indescribable, so i let the pictures do the talking for me ;)

After we shot some great pictures at Time Square, we moved all the way to the Rockefeller Center through  Broadway, which incidentally is the headquarter of the NBC. Unfortunately we missed the studio tour, but there is a park lying in front of the building with an amazing view, which was a little compensation for us. Zsolt decided to go up to the tower. So while he did the tour, me and Taki waited int he park, and searched for the place where Kevin Mcellistert found his mother, then we re-lived our childhood in the nearby Lego store, see attached photos ... J

After a short rest, we marched to the Central Park, where we had a traditional New York hot dog. After that we stretched our legs, and got prepared for the last destination of the day, the Madison Square Garden. It was a little disappointing because the hall was being renovated, so we cannot enter the builing. Then we went in to the Macy's nearby the Garden for a quick look, but the mass and the air-conditioning was so overwhelming, that we agreed mutually to end the day and go back to our accomodation for a good night sleep.

 

 

Második nap – 2013.06.21

Pénteken sikerült még az előző napinál is korábban útnak indulni, aminek köszönhetően kb. 5 percet álltunk sorba az Empire State Building-nél, mielőtt feljutottunk volna, és még kilenc is alig múlt. A jegyeket itt két részletben tudtuk megvenni, első körben a 86. emeletig lehet felmenni, ami 25 dollárba fáj a nézelődni vágyóknak. Akik ennél is tovább kívánnak menni, azoknak még 17 dollárba kerül, hogy megnézhessék, milyen is New York 102 emelet magasról. Miután csináltunk pár ütős képet, felsétáltunk a Flatiron Building-hez. Ezt követően metróval Manhatten alá bújtunk és felmentünk egészen a WTC Emlékparkig, és megnéztük mi is maradt az ikertornyok helyén. Az élmény igazán megható volt, látni a két medence falán az elhunytak neveit. Közvetlenül a park mellett viszont már az új világkereskedelmi központ, a One WTC tornyosul lassan 100%-os állapotban 1776 láb magasan. Az erőltetett menet után jöhetett egy kis pihenő és ebéd. Miközben helyet kerestünk, ahol ehetnénk, betértünk egy Mcdonaldsba, ahol egy személy zongorán játszott klasszikus zenéket, ami első, de még második látásra is meglehetősen furcsa volt.

Az ebéd után, még pihentünk egy kicsit mielőtt elindultunk az East River felé, hogy felszálljunk a Staten Island kompra, ingyenesen szállítja oda-vissza az utasokat, miközben elhalad a Szabadság szobor előtt. Az út maga kb 1 óra 15 perct vett igénybe, így még kényelmesen odaértünk a New York Yankees este 7 órakor kezdődő meccsére, amire pár hónapja Zsolti foglalt helyet nekünk. Szerencsére elkerültük a nagy tömeget, és még az első 18000 21 éven felüli látogatóban is benne voltunk, így kaptunk egy ajándék Yankees baseball sapkát. A meccs, ahhoz képest, hogy kezdők vagyunk még baseballból igen élvezetes volt. Az embernek az volt az érzése, hogy nem is egy meccsen van, hanem egy nagy show részvevője, ahol a meccs csak egyike a műsorszámoknak. Mire a mérkőzés véget ért már 10 óra is elmúlt, ezért az utolsó úti célunk az ideiglenes ágyunk volt a Queens-i szállásunkon.

Nagyjából így telt az elmúlt két napunk a nagy almában. Sok nevezetességet sikerült megnéznünk, de még így is csak egy szeletét láttuk ennek a hatalmas városnak. Nagyon jól és tartalmasan telt ez a két nap, az időjárással is szerencsénk volt, végig kellemesen meleg volt az idő és hála az égnek esőmentes. Az amerikai emberek nagyon közvetlenek, s kedvesek voltak, mindig segített valaki, ha éppen nem tudtunk merre kéne mennünk. Az egyetlen hiba New Yorkkal talán csak az volt, hogy ahova csak mentünk maxon járt a légkondi, és hűtötte a fejünket, ami jó tud lenni, de amikor már majdnem a leheletünk is látszik, az nem olyan kellemes. Szerencsére megúsztuk megfázás nélkül, és útnak indultunk túránk következő állomása, Buffalo felé. Miközben ezeket a sorokat írom, már közelítünk Farmington felé, ahol megszállunk szombat este. Következő bejegyzés már a Niagara vízesés mellől érkezik, valószínűleg újabb nagyszerű képek társaságában J

U.I.: New York-on belüli közlekedésün New York városának metro társaságának támogatásával valamint egy 30 dolláros metrocard valósulhatott meg.

Day Two - 21/06/2013

Friday we managed to get up even earlier than yesterday. Thanks to that we standed approx. 5 minutes in line at the Empire State Building before we have got in.  We could  buy tickets in two installments: with the first ticket, the elevator takes us up to the 86th floor, which costs $ 25. Those who wish to go even further, they can upgrade their ticket for  $ 17 to see how New York looks from the 102th. After we made a few wonderful images, we walked up to the Flatiron Building. For our next destination, we went under Manhatten and took the subway up to the WTC Memorial Park and watched the place of the Twin Towers. The experience was really touching, just to see the wall  filled with the names of those who died that day in he towers. Next to the park there is already a new wolrd trade center, the One WTC tower which is almost 100% completed, and goes up to 1776 feet. After this great rush, we had little rest and lunch. While we were looking for a place to eat, we got into a McDonald's, where a person has played classical music on a piano, which was quite strange at first, and even for the second glance.

After lunch, we rested a bit more before we headed to the East River to take the Staten Island ferry back and forth, passing the Statue of Liberty. The ferry is free for every  passenger. The trip itself took about 1 hour and 15 minutes, so we had enough time before the New York Yankees – Baltimore Rays game, which started at 7 pm. We had tickets, that Zsolti booked us a few months ago online. Luckily we avoided the large crowds, and we even one of the the first 18,000 people over 21 years, so we got a Yankees baseball cap as a gift. The game -  considering that we are still beginners concerning the rules and statistics of baseball - was very enjoyable. We had that feeling that we attended for a show rather than a ballgame.The organizers made a great party, where the game was just one of the programs. The game has ended around 10 o'clock, so our last destination was our bed, in our temporary place at Queens.

This was pretty our two days in the Big Apple. There were many sights we got to see, but this was still just a slice of this huge city.This two days were great and filled with programs, we were lucky with the weather too, it was always pleasantly warm and thankfully we avoided the rain too. The American people are very nice, we always got a little help from someone, if we were not sure where we are. The only problem with New York is perhaps the situation, that wherever we went, the air conditioning was on maximum, and it cooled our heads, which can be good, but when you almost can see your own breath is not so pleasant at all. Fortunately, we survived without a cold, and we set off to our next stop on our tour: Niagara Falls.
